Drilling Rig Inspection.

(Handling/ Hoisting Equipment Inspection)

Qualified and develop skills of inspectors who conduct inspection and acceptance tests on drilling components based on applicable standards through the application of check lists, procedures, OEM to verify the working conditions and readiness of major rig systems and equipment inspection

The course starts with a detailed description and general information of main rig systems and handling/Hoisting equipment NDT inspection used for drilling.

  • Conditions leading to defects and failures and the different between: Flaw, Imperfection, Discontinuity and Defect
  • Types of Discontinuities categories according to the stage of manufacture/use: Inherent Process, Primary Process, Secondary Process, Services Discontinuities
  • Inspection and maintenance for drilling rigs and the generally four main systems of drilling including: Power system, Hoisting system and Circulating system.
  • The principal component of the hoisting system functions and inspection according to different Categories as per referent Standards including but not limited to: Draw works, Crown block, Travelling Block and etc.
  • The principal component Rotary system Rotary Table, Swivel, Kelly, Tongs and etc.
  • The principal component Circulation System (Mud-pump, Mud System Tanks & etc.)

  • Mast/Derrick and Substructure Methods of Inspection (Level I, level II, III &Level IV

  • Frequency of Inspection for mast and substructure and Non-periodic inspection

  • Daily & Weekly inspection of equipment & accessories of Mast & Substructure& BOP
