NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

ASNT-NDT Level III Services

NDT wide group of analysis techniques used in science and technology industry to evaluate the properties of a material, system and assuring that structural components and tools are to inspect in a safe, reliable, and cost effective manner without causing damage to the equipment or shutting down operations.
Nondestructive examination (NDE), Nondestructive inspection (NDI) and
Non-destructive evaluations (NDE) are also commonly used to describe this technology.
NDT can be performed during / after manufacture or in service

NDT methods can generally be classified into two categories:
Conventional: Visual Inspection VT – Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) – Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) – Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – Eddy Current (ET) -Magnetic Flux Inspection (MFL) etc.
Advanced: Automated UT (AUT), Phased Array UT (PAUT) etc.
Each method has its own characteristic advantages and limitations.

The following standards bodies that develop and publish industrial codes, standards, and recommended practices for NDT methods relating to the oil and gas and chemical processing industries:

  • The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) ASTM International.
  • American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) American Petroleum Institute (API).
  • American Welding Society (AWS).
  • National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI).
  • International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
  • European Committee for Standardization (CEN) European. *Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).

ASNT NDT Level III program

The ASNT NDT Level III program provides third-party certification for nondestructive testing (NDT) personnel whose specific jobs require knowledge of the technical principles underlying the nondestructive tests they perform witness, monitor or evaluate.
The program provides a system for ASNT NDT Level III certification in NDT in accordance with Recommended Practice:
No. SNT-TC1-A or as per CP189-.

Level 3 services include (but are not limited) to the following:

  • Developing and/or reviewing client’s written practices for the qualification and certification of NDT personnel.
  • Developing and reviewing client’s NDT procedures.
  • Training and certification of personnel as per employer’s written practice.
  • Verification of qualifications and certifications of NDT personnel.
  • Representing client in discussions with customers, sub-contractors, auditors, etc. with regards to your NDT Program including procedures and written practice.
  • Development of calibration standards and equipment selection.
  • Review training programmers and provide training set up new NDT programmers.
